January 28, 2016 marks the first day of the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. The Winter X Games are an annual extreme sporting event that features some of the greatest athletes in the world. Athletes compete to win bronze, silver, and gold medals in snowboarding, skiing, snowmobiling and other winter events.
Popularity has exploded since the inaugural competition in 1997. Beginning in 2002, ESPN has televised the headline events in prime time. Notable competitors include Tucker Hibbert (Snowmobile SnoCross), Jamie Anderson (Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle), Tiril Sjstad Christiansen (Women’s Ski Slopestyle), Mark McMorris (Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle) and Lindsey Jacobellis (Snowboard Cross).
Lindsey Jacobellis is a professional snowboarder and Soxpert from Stratton, Vermont. She won the silver medal in Women’s Snowboard Cross at the 2006 Winter Olympics and has competed in the last 14 X Games. Lindsey has won more gold medals than any female in X Games competitor in history! This year, she’ll be going for her 10th gold medal in Snowboard Cross.
Lindsey spends all year traveling around the world and training for her competitions. Following intense training sessions, Lindsey likes to speed up her recovery by wearing Soxxy compression socks to help her muscles recover faster and prevent swelling. She loves to wear our Nighthawk compression sox whenever she flies and our Energy sox when she’s recovering from training and competitions. When a major competition like the X Games comes along, it’s a chance for Lindsey to showcase her abilities to an international audience.
